Project Travessia
The Krenak People and the Art of Preserving Memories
Originally from the Rio Doce Valley in the state of Minas Gerais, the Krenak people endured forced displacement and attempts to erase their identity. Despite these challenges, they have preserved their language, knowledge, traditions and art. Today, part of the community lives in the Vanuíre Indigenous Territory in Arco-Íris, São Paulo, alongside other ethnic groups.

Each piece produced by Krenak artisans reflects knowledge passed down through generations, their relationship with nature and the identity of their people. Inspired by traditional graphic patterns, Brazilian biodiversity, and ancestral memories, every creation is unique and carries a story.
