Cultural Center of Recife

Centro Cultural Correios – Recife is located at Av. Marquês de Olinda, 262, a privileged area in the old city center, declared national heritage by IPHAN and considered Special History Protective Zone  (ZEPH – 09) by means of Municipal Decree 16.290/97.

Check CCC/Recife program.

The building is from the beginning of 20th century and was purchased by the former Departamento de Correios e Telégrafos – DCT in 1921 to be Correios headquarters in Pernambuco.

Totally restored, the building has five floors with six exhibition rooms, auditorium, restaurant (bistro), room with historic pieces and a postal agency.

The building is an eclectic composition influenced by French classicism. Restoration works represented an investment of over R$ 5 million and have produced the building original project recomposition, with the skylight opening, stairs and panoramic elevator.

The Center, inaugurated on July 31, 2009, is part of the neighborhood touristic points, which counts on other attractions like:  Rua do Bom Jesus, the 1st Synagogue of Americas, Madre de Deus Church, Paço Alfândega and Malakoff Tower, in addition to theaters, bookstores, restaurants and other cultural spaces.

The Center is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 pm.
