Lost and Found

Did you lose your documents? Check whether your name is included in Correios Lost and Found list (link to http://www.correios.com.br/servicos/achados_perdidos/default.cfm). This service allows delivery to holder* when documents are delivered in Correios post offices or when they are deposited in our collections boxes. Or devolution to issuing agency of lost and/or miscarried documents.


How it works: First check whether your name is included in Correios lost and found list. In case it is, write down data in office where your documents are and go there.
Documents found are kept in office for 60 days since the date when they were entered.  After this period they are forwarded to issuing agencies. 
At the moment of their withdrawal, you have to prove that you are holder of the document and pay the tariff (check tariff value).


Who can pick up documents in post offices: The document will be delivered to the holder or legal representative duly acknowledged.   

Document form persons above 18 years old can be delivered to another person, since the document holder authorizes in writing;  

Documents from under age of 18 years old may be withdrawn by parents or guardians, and for that it is required presentation of identiy document;

The person under age of 18 years cannot authorize other person to pick up the document;

Required documents for pick up:
Own document holder: - Original and copy of police report.

Holder representative:- Written authorization, signed by document owner.  – Representative ID or another official document.  – Police report (original and copy) related to document loss.

Delivery:

Where to pick up documents: You can pick up documents in central post offices of each location.  

Documents will stay in Correios, available to interested persons, for 60 days, since, and including, the document receipt date in the post office in which it will be available. After this period, documents will be sent to their respective issuing agencies.

Correios will charge tariff to Lost and Found service as in force in delivery date.
In case several documents are delivered at once and they belong to one same person, this value will be charged once.

Other information: Correios are not responsible for undue use of deviated documents, since it occurs in a date previous to the entry in Correios unit and after the date of shipping to issuing agencies.

Police report copy will be retained in delivery unit in order to safeguard ECT from undue uses of lost and withdrawn documents.  

As to the loss of documents that allow identification through photograph, besides holder name, complete filiation (father and mother) identification shall be requested. – As to the occurrence of documents stealing, police report shall also be checked.

Where to deliver found documents?
At on Correios post office or through deposit in collection boxes. Correios only receive documents.  

Where to get information on lost documents:
In order to learn more about lost documents, access ‘Fale com os Correios’ (talk to Correios) section by telephone at Correios service central or request information at the website to receive information via email.  

How much: Correios will charge for Lost and Found service at tariff in force on the delivery date.  
In case several documents are delivered at once, belonging to one same person, this value will be charged only once.

Other terms

Restrictions: Objects in general (bags, wallets, etc.) and checks, bank cards, credit cards, tickets and similar are not documents, therefore they are not accepted by Correios Lost and Found Documents service.

Only parents or guardians can pick up a document from a person under age of 18 years old. For such, they shall present an ID, as well as Police Report related to the document loss.

Correios are not responsible for the improper use of lost documents, since it has occurred before entering the Lost and Found service or on a date after shipping to respective issuing agencies.

Objects that were not posted in ECT (Post and Telegraph Company) will not be accepted in Correios Post offices, for deposit in P.O. box.
