Digital certificate is a complex mathematical equation generated through cryptography by Certifying Authority (in this case AC SERPRO RFB), which Correios link (in condition of Registry Authority) to a natural or juridical person, after checking the applicant documents. The Digital certificate can only be used in internet. And, due to identity proof, by Registry Authority, allows access by its holder to several online services. The Digital certificate provides the following warranties: - Authenticity – warranty of the person who has made the transaction; - Integrity – warranty of non-alteration of transaction content; - Access concession and restriction – hindering of access by non-authorized persons to transactions and services; - Non-denial – impossibility of deny, by the person who has made the transaction, having made it, in case his/her certificate was used.
Who can use it: - Natural persons (e-CPF) (e-TIN); and – Juridical persons (e-CNPJ) (corporate taxpayer registry).
Modalities: A1 type certificate: Cryptographic keys are generated by software and certificate is stored in an area of work station disk, as a normal file in your computer. That is why we recommend a backup copy in pen drive, or CD-ROM, or in any other media. Access can be protected by password of operational system file where the digital certificate is recorded. It is valid for 1 (one) year, from the date of its request.
A3 type certificate: Cryptographic keys are generated by hardware and certificate is stored in a storage device specific for this purpose, which can be a smart card or a token. Access to certificate is protected by device password. It is valid for 3 (three) days from the date of request.
How it works: a) Client requests certificate via internet after searching which model satisfies his/her needs. Gathers required documentation and goes to a Correios post office accredited to perform the service;
b) At the post office the certificate holder in-person validation is made by Correios Registry Agents with payment of applicable tariff;
c) Client downloads certificate in the same machine used to request the service using the same operational system login, and Declaration of Ownership number and pass-sentence that was defined in certificate request phase;
d) After download, the certificate will be ready to be used in systems and application, like electronic invoice issue, natural and juridical persons income tax returns, in addition to other online services made available by Brazilian Federal Revenue, Judiciary, Notarial system, bank systems, and digital signature of documents and electronic messages cryptography.
Why use this service?
The Digital Certificate proves its holder identity and allows access to online services with the following warranties:
Authenticity – warranty of identity of who has made the transaction; - Integrity – warranty of non-alteration of transaction content; - Access concession and restriction – hindering of access by non-authorized persons to transactions and services;
- Non-denial – warranty that the person who executed the transaction will not deny having made it.
- Request and download of certificate must occur in a time as short as possible, considering the possibility of computer updating and risk of certificate loss;
- Certificate holder must not share his/her digital with third parties, because there is the non-denial feature, which may cause serious problems to holder;
- Certificate holders shall carefully keep passwords that are part of digital certificate, and pay attention to letters, spaces, graphic accents, not to lose the digital certificate;
-The digital certificate generator system is compatible with Windows operational system (above model 98) and with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Internet browsers. We do not recommend the use of other operational systems and browsers.
